Category: Bride on the Run

Introducing: Bride{ontherun}

Even before I got engaged, I debated a lot about if and how my blog would change as my life did – through marriage, moves, pregnancy, etc. These changes can be exciting things to write about, but they can also easily take over and completely change a blog’s direction. While no one expects a blog to stay stagnant over the course of the blogger’s life, I don’t want to risk losing the main thing that drew people to this blog in the first place.

So after EC and I decided to tie the knot, I had a lot of internal debate about whether I would actually blog my way through wedding planning. I don’t want to turn Health on the Run into a wedding blog and I certainly don’t want to annoy readers who have no interest whatsoever in my wedding babbles. But I do love blogging, and being able to share my thoughts online has been an important and great part of my life over the past couple of years. It would feel weird to go through such a huge life event and not be able to blog about it.

With that in mind my challenge became – how to share my thoughts and experiences with planning a wedding while marathon training and job hunting, without compromising what Health on the Run is really about.

One solution would have been to create an entirely separate blog for all wedding-related rambles, but the thought of designing and updated two blogs didn’t really seem all that appealing. Instead, after a bit of research, I’ve discovered a plug-in that (theoretically) will let me post updates to my wedding page that will just sit here – and not go to the homepage or feed readers. And although this means that there isn’t anyway to subscribe to the posts (creating the potentially annoying need for people to click over), it does mean that only those of you who are really interested in this stuff will actually see it. And for those of you who aren’t – that’s okay! Health on the Run will continue to update as normal. I can’t promise that no wedding talk will ever make its way into the main posts, but I can promise to keep most of that chatter here.

Since I don’t know much about this plug-in and how well it works, please know that this whole thing is just one big test right now. I really will try to keep the updates separate, but let me know if you notice that these posts are starting to creep over onto the main blog.

And on that note – I’ll start posting some real wedding posts soon. We’re going to look at venues next weekend! Fingers crossed we find The One!
